Project 01 - Expand the Zuzo Features
Don't know what Zuzo is? This is one of Yoyo’s SaaS offerings. A smaller business within the business that is a corporate Peer-to-Peer Recognition App.
Through Zuzo, employees can ‘nominate’ each other as a form of praise for hard work. Once a nomination is live, then anyone else in the company can “back” that nomination publicly too. This is a way to appreciate and encourage employees for excellent work.
Skills involved:
Our problem
In the past, we only offered a virtual card to each employee to hold the funds they received via nominations, which had its benefits, yet limited us to only function locally in South Africa. Our goal was to develop a global rewards marketplace in the long run.
As a first goal, we prioritised a local Marketplace and saw it as the foundation for scalability. Including implementing ways to generate a new source of revenue (float interest, breakage, transaction fees).
This was thanks to the existing Yoyo API and South African retailer integrations on our network for gift cards.

Competitor Analysis
What do others do that we can do better?
We looked at a few international competitors such as Bonusly and Kudos who also offer peer to peer recognition.
While also studying a local product called Strove from a UX point of view. Here are some small sections of the notes I usually make, as examples (My notebook has an overload in it):

User Flows and Main Deliverables
Before we start redesigning, we have to figure out the user journeys that can achieve our goals. Here are 2 examples of the 'artistically' drawn user journeys:

From Hand sketches to Wireframes on Figma - the team iterates and brainstorms along the way. We always spot the blind spots along the way

Let's Handover to Dev, packaged nicely, and wait to release
(you always tend to learn something new after that)
SO... What did we learn?
We realised users sometimes confuse the difference between the two balances they see.
The funds they can give to colleagues in the form of nominations, and the funds they have received through nominations. In this case, what you give is not actually what you receive. So we started exploring routes to improve this, but for now... we just share an infographic to help users understand the difference
