Project 02 - Plato.
Introducing Card-Linked Loyalty
Plato Coffee, a fast-growing South African coffee retailer, needed to move beyond their basic digital loyalty stamp program and wanted a custom-built app. We saw this as a great opportunity for the first company globally to implement Card Linked Loyalty (CLL) in their program by utilising one of Yoyo's newest cutting-edge technologies.
Skills involved:
Our problem - User Challenge Earning Loyalty
Plato originally had a Magic Stamp loyalty program. But as they grew, the offering became too basic, and users often experienced the digital stamp being unsuccessful. So Yoyo proposed Card Linked Loyalty. A collaboration between the Loyalty service provider (Yoyo) and the card transaction service provider (Yoco), to delver the client with a % of loyalty return based of each transaction (Thanks Plato!)
Who Are We Solving the Problem For?
Plato Coffee and their customers, who want a frictionless, modern loyalty experience in the South African market.

Competitor Research - Seattle Coffee Company
What do others do that we can do better?
Seattle Coffee's loyalty programme (earn by entering a mobile number at the till on each transaction) is widely regarded as the best in South Africa for its simplicity, according to industry reviews. We aimed to offer a similar low-friction earn mechanic, but streamline it further by only requiring phone number capture on the user's first transaction with a card.
Once that user's mobile number is linked to their Card, as well as linked to their app, they can earn loyalty each time they pay at Plato with their card
